election day, skating party, daylight savings

the busy weeks keep on coming. i will never take them for granted after all the weeks with no plans during the pandemic. last tuesday was election day. midterm elections are a bit anti-climactic, but still important. we did our duty and dropped off our ballots outside the library.

the best news came this week that the kid's covid vaccine has been approved! the kids have appointments this coming sunday. it will feel so good to get our first shots done.

on wednesday holiday drinks came out at starbucks, so i couldn't resist getting my first peppermint mocha of the season. yum.

on friday i met my friends vanessa and erica at uvillage (outdoor mall in seattle) for a little shopping and lunch. i hadn't been there for 2 years! i purchased a couple christmas gifts (very proud of this) and we had a delicious lunch at 'ba bar.' for dessert we went to a little boutique cookie shop called 'hello robin'. i got the birthday cake flavor and bought a flourless chocolate cookie to bring home to thatcher.

thatcher had a going away happy hour for his co-worker that night, so the kids and i got 'scooters' for dinner and watched a movie.

saturday morning azalea had a soccer game near green lake. all morning it was pouring out, so i was dreading going. it ended up being dry for most of the game (but low 40s and windy. brrr). the girls tied their game. it was an exciting back and forth match. only one regular season game left next weekend.

she kept stealing my hat when she was on the sidelines ;)

that afternoon azalea had a birthday party for her friend gillian at the new kraken practice facility. they skated and had pizza and cake. she was thrilled to get to go to normal birthday party! we dropped her off and picked her up, so i didn't get any pictures, but gillian's dad posted these on facebook:

while azalea was at the party, i took ashford over to his friend fritz's for a play date. i stayed and hung out with fritz's dad. when we got home, we made pizza for dinner and watched a movie.

sunday we had no plans (which was nice after a busy saturday). the kids were awake pretty early because of the extra hour due to daylight savings time. we lounged around all day, the kids played with the neighbors, and then made home made pad thai for dinner. just like every year, we joked that it felt like midnight at 5:30pm.

the kids and thatcher have this thursday off work/school for veterans day.
