PTA meeting, fall decor and desserts, much needed rain
last wednesday evening i had my first 'grade rep' meeting of the school year. if you don't remember, the last 3 years i have been in a volunteer position at school doing communications and events planning (well, less of that these days) for ashford's grade. my co-rep kay hosted the meeting in her backyard. it was so nice to be able to meet in person again! i made these apple nachos i saw online recently and they were so easy and delicious! it's just granny smith apples with caramel drizzle, chocolate chips, and mini marshmallows. i coated the apples in lemon juice to keep them from turning brown.
between school, soccer practices, and the pta meeting, last week flew by. it was friday before i knew it. the weather turned rainy on friday, so it was the perfect day to slow down. i decorated for fall, including a new lamp and canister i picked up from homegoods. the coziness level went up to 10 in our living room and i love it! i'm waiting til october to put out halloween stuff.
we all "slept in" on saturday (til 7:45 - ha). it was supposed to rain all weekend, so i was pleasantly surprised to wake up to sunny skies. azalea had a soccer game on the east side of seattle in the afternoon. it stayed dry for most of it, but started thundering and pouring by the end. the girls didn't care though, because they won! they are 2-0 now. this is a huge morale boost after they lost almost every game last spring. we had a lazy afternoon/evening. we got 'uneeda burger' for dinner and watched a movie. well, two movies actually. the kids kicked us out of the living room to do their own movie night (ha!), so thatcher and i watched our own upstairs. is this our new normal?
sunday we had no plans, so i decided to take the kids to target to look at halloween costumes (before they get picked over). i am not very crafty when it comes to costumes, so i let them buy a costume (within a budget). you'll have to wait until halloween to see what they came up with :) after that we took a trip to the library. in the afternoon we hung out at home and the kids played with simone and thelonius at the school playground for a while until it started thundering and pouring again. thunder in seattle is rare! we made a delicious bbq feast for dinner (pulled pork, cornbread, beans, coleslaw). and for dessert thatcher made us apple crisp. it's my favorite fall dessert and it was so good. and that wraps up another week.
