currently: annual september post
whenever i go back and re-read my september archives from past years, i come across my posts using the "currently" template and it inspires me to write a new one. so, here we go!
right now i'm currently...
appreciating: school. school. did i mention school? i love my kids and being with them, but the return to in-person school has been so good for all of us. ashford has had a lot of separation anxiety in the past, but he is doing so well this year. i'm so proud of him. i feel like i'm a more patient mom when i have some time during the day to be away from them. i really hope covid stays in check so they can go in-person all year.
looking forward to: thatcher's parents are coming in october (their first time visiting since we've been in this house). covid is still making it hard to make future travel plans, but i would love to take the kids to florida in february to see my mom. hurry up kids vaccine approval! finally, thatcher's brother and our sister in law are moving to prague in february and we really hope to visit them there in the early summer. in the mean time, we booked this cool rustic cabin on the hood canal in washington for 4 nights over new years.
wearing: seattle has been a mixture of sun, rain, 60's and low 70's this month. i love summer, but the beginning of fall always feels nice too. i've been pulling out all my jeans and sweaters and buying a few new additions because i just can't help myself :) most of them have been from goodwill at least! two things i still want are a plaid shacket (shirt-jacket) and short black boots.
reading: my goal was to read 40 books in 2021 and i've been averaging four per month, so i should surpass that. right now i'm reading "winter garden". before that i read "then she was gone". both are really good! i started using the 'good reads' app for the first time this year and it really helps me stay organized with the books i've read and want to read.
watching: quite a few months ago, i decided to re-watch the entire dawson's creek series. that show was a staple of my teenage years and i loved it! it's very funny re-watching it now in my upper 30s, but it still brings me back to those feelings i had for it and i love the nostalgia of it. i'm in the middle of the final season. thatcher and i just finished watching 'community' together. i'm also ready for new seasons of 'call the midwife', 'marvelous mrs. maisel' and 'firefly lane'.
listening to: fall makes me want to listen to all the cozy music: taylor swift (folklore and evermore), john mayer, the lumineers, of monster and men etc. it won't be long until i'll be starting up the christmas music (much to thatcher's dismay. he makes me use headphones til after thanksgiving - ha!).
eating: i've been re-visiting all of my favorite cold weather meals/desserts this month. stuffed pepper casserole, pot roast in the crock pot, and apple crisp. i'm hoping to make ginger tumeric soup later this week. it's been nice to make some different stuff!
