summer is flying by, movie date, sickness

 i can't believe the kids have been out of school for almost 5 weeks now. and in another 5 weeks they will be starting school again. even with some long, draining days around here, the summer always seems to fly by. i hardly have any pictures from the past week, but here we go!

after getting back from our trip last week, we had the second half the week to fill. the weather was pretty cool (low 70s every day). we went to mounger pool on wednesday. we had fun, but it was definitely chilly when we got out of the water. wednesday night thatcher met up with some of his coworkers, so the kids and i made mac n cheese for dinner and watched a movie.

thursday we hung out at home in the morning. in the afternoon, the kids both had cleanings at the dentist office. a good report for both, so that's always nice. they played at a playground across the parking lot for a while, then we headed home. 

friday was very cool and cloudy. we had nothing planned so i tried to think of what we could do and came up with going to see a movie in the theater. our theaters just reopened a few weeks ago! the kids were thrilled. we saw boss baby 2. there was almost no one there and it was really fun to do something we haven't done in a year and a half. 

saturday we had a lazy day at home. ashford was having cold symptoms for a couple days and then he gave it to me. i was 99% sure it was a cold, but with a week of day camp coming up and hearing that the delta variant has been presenting like a cold in people (especially if you are vaccinated), i decided i should get tested for covid just in case. i made an appointment for a rapid test at walgreens on sunday morning (that was the soonest i could get in for a rapid test).

the test was quick and easy. i administered it to myself in the walgreens drive thru :) it's funny that my first covid test came after being fully vaccinated, but hey! i got the results less than an hour later and it was negative. just a summer cold i guess. i can handle that! we mostly hung out at home the rest of sunday, and ran a few errands. 

now it's monday again and the kids are starting another week at boys and girls club. we are all ready!
