schoooools out for the summer! we had a busy week leading up to the last day of the year. the end of the weirdest school year ever. the district has announced school should be back to normal next year - thank goodness!
tuesday after school, we had the end of the year gathering for 1st grade at webster park, which my grade co-rep kay and i planned. the weather was looking iffy all day, but it ended up being fine. there was a great turnout too. i didn't take any pictures, but there was lots of running around and popcicle eating. ashford and his classmates filled these out for their teacher to keep:
wednesday was the first 70 degree day we've had in a while, so we decided to go to the beach with friends after the final remote school session of the year. we met kay and her boys and beth and her girls and had a fun afternoon soaking up the sunshine. we all came home a little bit burned even though we wore sunscreen. oops. it was a gorgeous day!
thursday was the 4th grade year end gathering at webster park. it was very similar to tuesday, especially because there are a ton of families who have kids in both 4th and 1st grade.
friday was the last day of school! they were only there for an hour and 45 minutes because the district does early dismissal on the last day. we stayed after for the 5th grade graduation parade, which was really fun. i can't believe we will be celebrating azalea next year! i did a first day/last day pic again because i love seeing how much they've grown.
thatcher left on an overnight backpacking trip with a couple of his friends. we hung out at home for the rest of the night. the kids played video games, we picked up scooters for dinner and watched "luca" the new disney pixar movie. it was really cute.
on saturday morning we met vanessa and ewan at the locks. it was another beautiful day. the kids brought balls and frisbees and ran around on the grass while vanessa and i caught up. we hung out at home for the afternoon. ashford asked if he could make a smoothie himself because he "knows how". not sure where he acquired that skill. i let him do most of it. it was pretty cute.
thatcher got home around dinner time (it's always a relief for me when he returns from the wilderness) ;) he had an awesome camping trip. here is a picture from their hike:
saturday night my friend kay invited me over to her patio for dinner and drinks, along with another friend of ours, dora. i made these super easy and delicious melon, basil, prosciutto bites and an arugala salad. we also had flat bread pizza and made
frose drinks. it was such a fun evening.
i had to document my first time wearing dangly earrings in over a year. i gave up on them because they are a pain with masks.
sunday was father's day. the pain of not having my dad on this day has lessened the past few years, but i still miss him so much every day.
thankfully i have another awesome dad in our family to focus on :) we had a pretty normal day at home after a busy weekend. we cleaned, grocery shopped, and i went to the gym. we made ribs for dinner, which were so so good and thatcher baked cupcakes for dessert.
we ended up watching "luca" again because thatcher hadn't seen it and we loved it.
today is the first official monday of summer vacation. it's been heating up in seattle and we'll be seeing 80s and 90s this week. we are gonna go to the outdoor pool in magnolia this afternoon for the first time in 2 years!
