fire training, mariners game, mom sleepover

the last week felt quick after the monday holiday! we had some nice summery days and now it's cooled down again. such is life in seattle in june. it was a busy week too.

we've officially been in our current townhouse for an entire year now. it was a stressful time to move, but it was a blessing in disguise because we gained so much space and we are so happy living here. i do wish we had a yard, but with the park a half block away, it hardly matters. we are eager to have more visitors :)

wednesday afternoon we met up with ashford's buddy alex and his dad and brother to watch some fire department training in our neighborhood. it was pretty cool! and made me think of my dad :)

after that, we hung out in their yard for a couple hours and the kids played in the sprinkler and the tree swings.

that night we surprised the kids by taking them to a mariners game. we hadn't been to one since 2016 and i thought with ashford playing baseball this year he would really enjoy it. wednesday was a hot day. it was still 85 degrees at 7:00 at night when the game started. and our seats were in the direct sun. so we sat for a while sweating our butts off, then went down to the concourse level to cool off.

they played the oakland athletics and lost, but it was a fun night. we left a little after 9pm during the 7th inning stretch. i'm glad we could go!

in other exciting news: our library re-opened last week after 15 months! i never was a "holds" person before the pandemic (i usually browsed for books), but i've grown to love it. it's nice to have the option to browse though again.

thursday night ashford had his own baseball game. they lost, but they played well :)

the kids' school is decorated for pride month, which makes me so happy.

friday night i had a sleepover with my original group of mama friends from when i moved here. we were so looking forward to doing this after every one was fully vaccinated. it was so much fun and worth the wait! erica hosted at her new house in the madrona neighborhood. it was my first time in that part of seattle and i loved it. we hung out at her house all night and ate tons of good food, drank wine, and stayed up too late.

saturday morning we went and got brunch at a super cute cafe in the neighborhood. we ended up having to wait almost an hour for a table, but it had a really beautiful patio and the food was great too.

saturday afternoon ashford had a play date with a friend at the park and then had another baseball game (they won!). we went to great state burger for dinner and watched a movie. saturday also marked 6 years of living in seattle for us. it's wild to think!

sunday we cleaned, ran errands, and azalea had a soccer game (her last one of the season). they lost, but it was fun to watch. the spring season is very casual in that there are no practices, so i think the girls got a little discouraged by losing most of their games. but this fall they will be back at it.

while we were gone, thatcher cut ashford's hair. this is pretty much every selfie ashford takes these days ;)

we are going into the last two weeks of school and i can hardly believe it!
