signs of spring, pandemic friends, beach wave curler

we're a week into march and it feels good! the cherry blossoms are blooming and we've had a few days close to 60 degrees, which has been awesome. but we are also approaching the one year anniversary of when the world shut down, so i have lots of feelings about that!

last wednesday we went to golden gardens with vanessa and ewan after school. i forgot to take any pictures, but the sunshine felt amazing. vanessa and i sat on the beach and chatted while the kids played.

friday evening thatcher met up with some co-workers in fremont for an outdoor happy hour (most of them he hasn't seen for a year). i was so happy he got to do that. covid isolation is real! the kids and i got scooters for dinner and i let them play video games for way too long, so i could watch the crown. a lovely friday night, if i do say so myself :)

saturday morning i took azalea with me on some errands. we made a return at target and then headed to goodwill to look around. we got some books, snow pants for next year, and this cute sprinkle shirt for her. i got a skirt and jeans for myself (took a chance since the fitting rooms are still closed). the skirt fit, but the jeans need to go back this week.

in the afternoon, ashford had a new friend alex over for a playdate on the driveway.  they just met this year (through remote school) and have played at the park a few times together, but they are like two peas in a pod and obsessed with each other. it warms my heart that he has managed to make new friends with the world the way it is right now. they had lots of fun playing legos and scootering down the block.

on a whim, i ordered a $25 beach wave curler from target the other day because i love having my hair curled, but i suck at regular curling irons and this one looked much less intimidating. and it was! i managed to curl my hair in under 15 minutes and i love it. i won't do it every day, but i'm excited to have the option.

for a few days last week thatcher was tracking a military air craft carrier ship that was supposed to come through seattle. sunday morning was the day. thatcher and azalea quickly got dressed and headed to golden gardens to try to see it. they got rained on, but they got to see it from afar. azalea requested hot chocolate when she got home. ;) the rest of the day we cleaned, grocery shopped, and watched the weird weather. it alternated every hour between sun and rain, and we even got some hail and a loud clap of thunder.

Yay! I bought a similar hair curler and haven't used it yet, but hopefully will play around with it this week. Random question....can you return to goodwill? or do you just donate it?
