baseball, more school updates, a social weekend
with each passing week i can feel my mood and outlook on life improving more and more. it feels so nice!
ashford had his first ever baseball practice last tuesday night. we signed him up for t-ball last spring, but it was cancelled. many of the same kids were signing up again this year (except this time for machine pitch because they have aged out of t-ball), so we decided to go for it. ashford has not done any team sports yet and has never even played baseball, so it's exciting. it's boys and girls from his grade at school and one of the dads is the coach. it's two days a week and they are required to wear a mask at all times. he had so much fun the first night. i think it's gonna be a great activity for him.
when we got home, the school district sent an email with the proposed in-person schedule for elementary kids starting april 5th: 4 half days on M-T-Th-F (either morning or afternoon) and remote school for all on wednesdays. the in-person time is only 2 hours and 45 minutes a day, but this is so exciting! no lunch at school, so the kids will have their masks on the whole time. i can't wait to get more details and make this a reality in two weeks!
it always feels good to make it to another friday. we had a relaxing night. we ordered Thai takeout from a place that recently opened about a mile away. for the past year, it has been rare for us to have weekend plans that involve anyone outside our household and this past weekend we had baseball practice and a birthday party that ashford and i attended. yay for normalcy!
ashford was a little more hesitant about practice this time because one of his buddies wasn't going to be there, but he had a great time again. saturday afternoon he and i went to his friend callum's for a small birthday gathering in their backyard. the kids did a pinata, ate cupcakes, and ran around.
sunday we had no plans. we relaxed, ran some errands, and cleaned. the weather hasn't been the greatest lately, but i'm hoping for warmer, drier days in our future.
