fashion in the time of covid (still)

i last did an outfit post in june when we were 3 months into the pandemic. we are now 9 months in and i'm still getting dressed in real clothes for the most part, but i will admit the colder weather and early darkness has me reaching for pajamas (or at least lounge clothes) by 4pm each day. since my last post, goodwill re-opened but their changing rooms did not so i haven't done a ton of shopping there. i've done some at ross (no changing rooms either), and old navy (weirdly their dressing rooms are open), but for the most part i've been sticking to online shopping.

1. on that note, i'm starting with these pajamas from ann taylor. they are the most expensive pajamas i've ever bought ($40), but i've bought my fair share of $20 target pajamas and they always look gross after a few washes. i bought them over the summer and i'm happy to report they still look nice. i don't see them on their website anymore.

2. the most covid picture ever. ha! this was the day i decorated our tree and i decided to deck myself in as much holiday style as i could. the mask was a pack of 5 from old navy. i really wanted some holiday masks, but the fit isn't my favorite. they get points for adjustable ear straps, but no nose wire and the top comes up really high, so i'm always pushing it down. the sweatshirt is also old navy, but i don't see it on the site anymore. the mug is from crate and barrel and i added it to my collection this year, but i also don't see it on their site.

3. i just bought this graphic tee from target because it says "good things are coming" and i love that after the year we've had. the sweater i've had for a couple years now and it was old navy via goodwill. it's almost as thick as a coat. the jeans are target via goodwill. i've been wanting some button fly jeans for a while, so i was happy to find these.

4. back to summer when i wore dresses all the time. i have two of these t-shirt dresses from target. this one shrunk a bit after washing, so that was annoying, but it was still wearable. the rattan circle bag i got from buffalo exchange and even though i've only used it a couple times, i love it! the sandals are old from target, but i don't wear them often so they've held up.

5. let's talk about this coatigan (coat + cardigan). i had been admiring them on instagram influencers for months (embarrassing but true). the regular jcrew version is so expensive, but i managed to snag one from jcrew factory on sale for $40. i love it! the striped top is target via goodwill and the black jeans were $15 at ross. just like all black jeans they started to fade after 2 washes. the shoes are also from ross and i love the way they look but they are not very comfortable so they only get worn for short spurts.

6. another target dress from the summer (and another brown & black combo, which i love!). i especially love the midi-length of this one. i added a brown belt to give it more shape. same target sandals as above.

7. i found this puff-sleeve sweatshirt at target on clearance. i have to laugh because when thatcher saw it on me he was like "what.is.that." it's a fancy sweatshirt - duh! ;) jeans are from nordstrom over the summer, but i don't see them on the site anymore. the leopard slip ons have seen better days, but i just can't let them go yet.

8. this light-weight leopard sweater i got from loft via goodwill a couple years ago and every time i think about parting with it, i remember how much i love it. this picture was taken in early july when seattle was refusing to commit to summer. the jean shorts are from target last summer. the gold sandals were an impulse clearance purchase from old navy. i love them.

9. i think i've shown this shirt before, but it's a good one. i don't see it on target's site anymore. i've been slowly adding to my collection of graphic tees, but i'm sort of picky about them. this one is perfection. this is the same gray sweater as above. i recently retired my DL1961 jeans that i got at goodwill a few years ago (and looooved). but the rise on them is pretty low and i decided i was tired of pulling them up all the time. they had a good run!

ok, there we have it. hopefully by summer we will be seeing a bit more normalcy return to our every day lives (and clothes).

Comments

If i was in my freezing cold office I would be buying one of those j crew factory sweater coats too! I have really only bought lounge wear and outdoor wear this year. Occasionally I look at dressy-er clothes, but it just doesn't make sense when i'm likely not back in the office until 2022.
