veteran's day + a pretty quiet week
i realized in writing this post that i hardly took any pictures this week and life seems to be slowing down these days in general (not that it has been very fast paced since covid hit). it's a combination of azalea's soccer season ending, the weather turning colder and wetter, and covid cases rising again. washington just issued a new order to close all indoor dining at restaurants. and gyms, zoos, etc are closing as well for at least 4 weeks. indoor gatherings of any size are discouraged unless people quarantine first and get tested for covid. i'm hearing that toilet paper is flying off the shelves again. oh boy!
thatcher and the kids had last wednesday off for veteran's day. i mentioned in my last post that they had built model rockets over the weekend. so, wednesday was launch day! thatcher took them to a field in redmond (the only place in the county where you can shoot them off). they had a blast. (see what i did there?). azalea's worked better than ashford's, but both were successful. i'm glad they got to do this special activity together since thatcher spent a lot of his teen years doing rocketry.
i decided to stay home (since i rarely get more than an hour at a time to myself these days). i watched "bad moms christmas" and "love actually" and enjoyed the peace and quiet. it was sooooo nice!
over the weekend we mostly hung out at home. on friday we had a guest bed delivered, which is exciting to have space for this finally. azalea had her last soccer game of the season. it was far from a normal season, but i'm so glad she had the opportunity to do something social with friends safely and get some exercise. on saturday night we did another boy's/girl's movie night. the boys watched the next star wars movie and azalea and i watched "miracle on 34th street" (the 90's version). i think we'll be doing this a lot over the winter months, it's been such a hit. sunday we did stuff around the house and then i took the kids (and our neighbors simone and theolonius) to the bcc playground. it gets dark so early now so we were home by 4:45.
the kids are entering their last week of school before thanksgiving. they get that whole week off for conferences and the holiday. it will be nice to get a break.
