rainy days, new bedding, the start of thanksgiving break

man has it been rainy is seattle lately. we're averaging about 5 rainy days a week right now, it feels. we managed to have a couple playground play dates last week, but they were really wet! the only upside of that (besides social getting interaction) is coming home after and changing into pajamas and sitting in front of the heat vent ;)

i got new bedding for our bed last week. (our old stuff went to the guest bed). surprise, surprise, i went with neutral colors again ;) they just look so effortlessly put together and i never get sick of them, so i knew it was the way i wanted to go. i'm very happy with the new look. and the comforter is so fluffy and cozy!

as a 1st grade parent representative i've been in touch with the teachers about how we can support them during distance learning. ashford's teacher needed help assembling 80 math kits for the entire grade, so a couple other moms and i met him at the school to pick up the supplies. it was pretty quick and easy and i'm sure he appreciated it so much. we're all in the this together!

i also helped coordinate a school-wide art project called kindess rocks! students are encouraged to paint a rock (or 2) with words of encouragement then drop them off in a bin at the front entrance of the school. my fellow rep (kay) and i will spray them with a protective coating and then add them to the rain garden out front. it's been a fun, not too labor intensive, social distanced activity to coordinate.

the kids were thrilled on friday afternoon to finish up school for 9 days (including the weekends). we decided to bake a treat. i had seen the idea online to make blondies with leftover halloween candy, so we gave it a shot. i over-baked it a tiny bit, but it still turned out really yummy.

we spent most of the weekend at home. we cleaned and hung out. we dropped off our painted rocks at the school and played at the community center for a while. on saturday night we changed up our boys/girls movie night and thatcher and azalea watched "percy jackson" and ashford and i watched "the polar express". we've been busy planning our thanksgiving meal and doing some shopping for it as well.

i came home with the peppermint mocha yesterday and the kids stole it and finished it after i only had 2 sips. thanks guys ;)

happy thanksgiving to you and yours!
