puppy love, election day(s), rocketry
last monday afternoon we got to meet our friends martine, bruce, and beatrice's new puppy, goldie. they just got her a few days before, so we were excited to come snuggle her. she was adorable!
tuesday was, of course, the election. i already wrote about how we voted early, but it was surreal to have the big day finally here. i was distracted all day waiting for the numbers to start trickling in. we watched the coverage on tv all evening. the kids were really into it (asking a lot of questions about what all the numbers meant). it was hard going to bed not knowing what the outcome would be, especially because it was looking like trump might win. we held our breath the day after that. and the day after that. and the day after that.
but when they announced that biden was the president-elect on saturday morning it was more than worth the wait! it makes me so happy and relieved to have some one with compassion, empathy, and decision-making skills that truly benefit all americans coming back into office. and the first female vice president is so historic and inspiring. it was so fun watching the coverage of celebrations happening all across the country (and the world!). january can't come soon enough!
azalea had soccer on saturday morning. i ran to whole foods and also got my first holiday drink of the season!
that night there was the most beautiful sunset. very fitting for such a beautiful, historic day.
saturday after dinner we did a boys/girls movie night. thatcher and ashford watched star wars in the living room and azalea and i watched christmas vacation in my bed. it was so cozy and fun. the boys even surprised us with popcorn halfway through. the kids are asking to do it again this weekend :)
sunday we mostly hung out at home and ran some errands. thatcher is building model rockets with the kids to shoot off this week when they have veteran's day off. he used to teach rocketry classes at southwest community ed where we met, but hasn't done it in 15 years.
