fall colors, voting, roadside find
what a week! i feel like i have a lot to share. nothing major, but just lots of small fun things.
it's been a mix of sun, clouds, and rainy days here for the past week. one day we even had a thunderstorm when it was 45 degrees! a few mornings it's gotten down to freezing. the trees in our neighborhood have been so pretty lately, but the leaves are starting to fall now.
ashford had art class for school last week and they had the kids do watercolor painting....while on their computers. i held my breath for no spills. his picture turned out really pretty though :)
on wednesday i took the kids to salmon bay park. it's funny how something we
used to do all the time pre-covid and didn't think twice about, feels like such a thrill now :) we also went to sandel park over the weekend with friends.
our ballots arrived last week. washington has done 100% mail in (or drop off) voting for years. this year many more states are getting on board with it with covid. it's so nice to not have to wait in a line, to fill it out on your own time and pop in the dropbox in our neighborhood. this is the craziest election and i'm on pins and needles waiting for election day. i hope with every fiber of my being that trump is not re-elected, but i do know it's possible.
we also watched the last presidential debate on thursday night. the kids show some interest in it (asking lot of questions), which is good and also distracting. haha. it's a good civics lesson for them.
i realized recently that my noodles-obsessed girl has never had ramen noodles before, so i bought her some. i figured i might as well teach her how to make them right off the bat ;)
here are our window clings i bought. there are more on the sliding glass door that leads to our deck.
we rearranged our living room on friday night because it's gotten cold enough that we need to turn the heat on and we had furniture positioned in front of the vents, so it was time for a new layout. i really like it. it feels more cozy.
i also added purple lights to this and it makes me so happy :)
finally! on sunday when the kids and i were driving home from a playground, this shelf on the side of the road caught my eye. it looked like it was free for the taking, but i wasn't sure and i had the kids in the car so there wasn't room anyway. i dropped them off at home with thatcher and drove back up there to scope it out. i ended up knocking on the person's door to make sure i could take it (there was no sign) and they said yes. i couldn't believe my luck! it's such a fun piece. it was covered in about 5 inches of dust, so i had to clean it up, but i love it. i had hoped to put it in the living room or entry way, but i didn't love the way it looked there, so i ended up putting it in our room for now.
