currently: saturday musings
i've mentioned before that i like to go back and read my blog archives from whatever month we are in for the past 10 years. whenever i do, i'm always reminded of the "currently" blog post template that i've done almost every september, so it inspired me to do a new one.
right now i'm currently...
appreciating: it can be really hard to find things to appreciate these days. between covid, wildfire smoke, political drama, racism, and the list goes on. but i think it's really important to find things to be thankful for, for your mental health. so here are mine: we are all healthy, we got to see our families this summer, we have a nice house to hunker down in, we have a home life that can help support the kids with their distance learning. i feel better already just listing those!
looking forward to: two things. and both are getaways of course. just this week, vanessa and i booked a night at an airbnb near greenlake for the two of us in october. a little "mom-cation" if you will. i'm sad we can't really do our full weekend getaway with our friend group, but i can't wait for a relaxing night. the next one is our familiy booked an airbnb on the oregon coast for 4 nights at the end of december (over new years). we did this last march right when covid started and it was so much fun. this house is also right on the ocean and has a hot tub, so i think it's going to be an amazing little trip for us.
wearing: it's fall and the weather in seattle has pretty much reflected that, but with the wildfire smoke we were cooped up in the house and it was hot so i've been wearing shorts and tank tops lately. i'm excited to wear some fall stuff that hasn't been touched in months. and i've done a little shopping in preparation:)
reading: i've just passed my reading goal for the year (30 books), so that feels pretty great! i just finished "gone girl", which was very popular about 8 years ago, but i never read it then. i'm now reading "miss peregrine's home for peculiar children". i got both from goodwill because the library is still closed.
watching: i'm thrilled that "call the midwife" season 9 in now available on netflix. i've been meaning to watch some of the movie adaptations of books i've read this year, but i don't watch many movies these days. every night thatcher and i watch an episode of "boy meets world" which was a cheesy sitcom we both loved in the 90s :)
eating: it's apple and pumpkin season! we've already made apple crisp. i've started adding pumpkin pie spice to my coffee :) i want to make pumpkin pancakes soon. and maybe a pot roast in the crockpot. all the comfort foods!
