summer daze

another week of summer down. we still don't know what school will look like in the fall. at first it sounded like a hybrid model of partial remote and partial in person might work, but that is looking less and less likely. i can't imagine starting a school year 100% remote, but it may be the case since covid cases are continuing to rise :(

last friday evening i had a backyard wine date at my friend megan's. it was a beautiful night (after many cool, cloudy days in a row) and it was so nice to catch up with her.

unfortunately the night got cut short because her kids' bedtime wasn't going so well. i decided to stop by my friend kay's a couple blocks away and she and her husband and two neighbors were drinking wine in their backyard, so i ended up hanging out with them for another 2 hours. ha! it was a good night.

it has warmed back up into the 70's again, but for a while there we were feeling like this:

we mostly hung around the house last weekend. our big project was getting the playroom/office into shape. it's been a mess of toys, boxes, and bins pretty much since we moved in. thatcher ordered a metal shelf for lego storage and he bought 4 chairs to go at our game table. it looks so much better and it's so nice to have it be a functional space now.

i also took a trip to goodwill and mainstay provisions for an iced coffee and then hung out on my favorite spot:

the kids and i have been going to golden gardens 1-2 times a week and it's been a lifesaver.

they always seem to convince me to let them get ice cream too ;)

on tuesday i made this caprese pasta salad i was craving. it was good the first day, but i learned the hard way that gluten free pasta (which is all we had) doesn't refrigerate well. oh well!

i love to sit out on the deck and have some time to myself to unwind and read.

but you know that only lasts for about 2 minutes before i have a visitor ;)

i've been terrible about working out since the gyms closed. i saw these at bartells yesterday, so i got them. i figure i can at least wear them around the house and make myself feel like like i'm doing something. haha

we have a quiet weekend ahead. maybe a bike ride on the east side with the kids.
