father's day hike, golden gardens, new oven

last sunday for father's day we drove out of the city to snoqualmie area to do a family hike (oxbow loop trail). it was a nice day for hiking, a little sun and 65 degrees. i'd rather have it cool for hiking than hot. it was actually a really short hike (under 2 miles), but we all enjoyed it. it was along a river and the mountains were in the distance.

we got takeout from uneeda burger for dinner and also had the almond cake that thatcher baked :)

monday was the first official day of summer break. it got off to a rough start that morning with lots of tantrums and fighting, but in the afternoon i took the kids to golden gardens for the first time since march and all of our worries melted away. it was such a beautiful day. there were quite a few people there (despite the parking lots being closed). we had to park on the street blocks away and walk. we did our best to keep our distance from the other beach-goers. i think we'll be spending a lot of time there this summer. the kids love it, they don't fight at all, and its easy parenting for me. win-win-win.

on tuesday we got a new oven installed. we learned within the first couple days of living here that the oven (which was probably from 1990) was not functioning properly. it would take over 60 minutes for it to reach 400 degrees. not good. we contacted the property management company and they moved quickly to order a new one, so that was nice. the new one is much better :)

wednesday night i had a wine date in vanessa's backyard. she even got us our own grown up "lunchables". the perfect social distance snack :)

one morning i slept til 7:30 (that never happens!) and ashford was still fast asleep snuggled up to me. he's been really really tough lately, so i'm holding these sweet moments close.

the kids were lounging on the deck one night, so i had to take their picture of a rare peaceful moment ;)

friday we went back to golden gardens again. this time with our friends louise, simone, and thelonious who live on our street. we walked there and back which was 4 miles round trip. it was a beautiful morning playing at the beach and we got ice cream too.
