decembering all the way

guess what? we had another sick day and trip to urgent care this week! can't catch a break! tuesday night ashford was in our bed and was coughing and next thing we knew, he was puking every where. yikes! we had to throw the sheets in the wash, put new ones on the bed, and i had to wash part of my hair in the sink. ewwww. i kept him home from school on wednesday, but he never got sick again. thank goodness! urgent care came over the weekend. 

 

friday morning the kids called me over, saying "look at us mama!" this is the blurriest picture ever, but it's so darn cute. a rare occurrence indeed ;) 

friday night we stayed in. we made breakfast for dinner. after the kids went to bed, i convinced thatcher to watch a cheesy made for tv christmas movie with me. mwahaha. 

saturday morning azalea had a 7th birthday party for her classmate ben. they invited the whole class, which was nice. it was at a sports arena/bouncy house place about 30 mins away. i took her to it and thatcher and ashford stayed home. there were about 12 kids there and lots of parents. it was fun to hang out with them while the kids ran wild. they had pizza and cupcakes and soon it was time to leave (those kinds of places kick you out after 90 minutes). it is so crazy to me that we are attending 7 year old birthdays already! we hung out at home for most of the afternoon. i worked on our holiday cards, and i even had a little elf willing to help this year: 

thatcher ran some errands and we got ready to have ashford's buddy ewan over for the evening. it had been a long time since we did a date night swap with his mom and dad. thatcher and i get ours this weekend :) we ate dinner with the kids, and then we watched the polar express.

we hung out with vanessa and matt for a bit after they got back. it was a fun night!

sunday morning we had planned to meet up with some friends at mighty os to have donuts and play a game, but they canceled due to sickness. we decided to go anyway (hello gingerbread donuts!). it was a chilly, but dry morning for our walk there. we ended up running into ewan and matt and hanging out with them. we enjoyed our donuts and the kids played our dinosaur card game. 

we came home for lunch and then i took azalea to urgent care because we suspected she might have an outer ear infection. the top of her left ear was looking pretty gunky and gross. they prescribed some antibiotic cream, so hopefully that will take care of it. i escaped by myself for a while in the afternoon. i went down to ballard avenue to the farmer's market and to some shops. it was seriously the best experience. indie christmas music playing in the stores, free hot spiced cider, every one was cheery. the best! we made pasta for dinner then sugar cookies and decorated them before bed. whew!

less than 2 weeks until we leave for minneapolis! weee!
