the living room post

i know, you are probably thinking "what happened to the basement post?" i'm getting there, i just haven't taken pictures of the finished basement yet. i know, i'm a slacker! ;) anyway, i've mentioned once (or a hundred times) on here that we moved all of our living room furniture downstairs when we finished the basement, which meant....we got to buy all new stuff upstairs! (most exciting thing of my life!). haha.

we bought all of our old furniture shortly after moving into our house in 2007 and it was....fine. i never really loved what we got, but we had a small budget and i had no vision whatsoever for the space, so it just sort of came together. here is what our living room has looked like for the past 7 years. lots of earth tones, a couch that got all smooshy after a couple years, 

the room is an awkward "L" shape that also includes our dining room table. we had the tv up there, so it was always a question of - do we arrange the furniture around the tv or the fireplace or what? the struggle was real ;)

and now, here are pictures of our new living room. i wanted bright, fun colors. our curtains stayed, so we had to work with that. we went from having all of the toys upstairs to moving about 85% of them to the basement.
