weekend recap on a wednesday

thank you all for your kind words about my grandma and your awesome potty training advice. i'm happy to report we've turned a corner on potty training. we aren't totally there yet, but getting closer.

i've missed recapping our weekends on here since ashford was born, so i'm gonna try to get back to it...starting now!

as you know, my grandma's funeral was this weekend. we spent friday night at my aunt and uncle's house. my aunt and cousins flew in from georgia (they barely made it after that snow storm!). it was so nice to see them, even though i wish it would have been under different circumstances. my cousins loved spending time with ashford and azalea. here are some pictures from the night:

the funeral was on saturday morning at my grandma's church and it was such a beautiful tribute to her life. my mom and her 2 sisters wrote eulogies that were so touching and also sprinkled in funny stories from when they were growing up. so many people came out, it was so nice. azalea and ashford were the only kids there and they did great. here is her obituary. we all took naps in the afternoon and relaxed at home in the evening.

sunday morning my blog-turned-real-life friend sarah and her daughter aubrey came over to meet ashford and play with azalea. i forgot to take any pictures, but it was a fun time! and the girls ended their playdate by running around the house sans pants yelling "nakey butt! nakey butt!" haha. sunday night was the super bowl. we went to our friends becky and jeromy's annual party. we aren't huge football fans, but i'm a huge fan of food, superbowl commercials and good company. there were tons of kids there, so that was fun for azalea. once again, no pictures. oops!

As hard as funerals are, being surrounded by family is always comforting. Prayers to you and your family.

So nice to have so much family around for your grandma's funeral...and for them all to be able to spend time with your kiddos.
