life lately

remember when i said i was going to start recapping my weekends again? that was cute :) not shockingly, i'm struggling to find the time to blog these days (months...) and i'm worried that's not going to change any time soon. of course blogging isn't the most important thing in the world, but i use my blog as a baby book for my kids, so i try my hardest to keep it updated. i also feel terrible that i've been such a bad commenter on all of your blogs. i promise i'm reading your posts, but i'm often a good 4 days behind. someday i will catch up. here's a run down of what we've been up to lately:

 - last sunday we met our friends liz, joe, jake, and max at the mn zoo. we got there at 3:30pm, only to find out that the zoo closes at 4pm. bummer...and weird, huh?! (we have a membership, so it didn't matter too much). we made the most of our 30 minutes by checking out the animals along the tropics trail. we hadn't been to the zoo in quite a few months and i know i say this every time, but it was so fun to see azalea's reaction to the animals. she loved it! it was really quiet there, so she also had a blast running around with jake and max. ashford was too busy sleeping to run around :)

- we've been watching the olympics every night, which is fun! azalea is into it for about the first 5 minutes ("i watch skating!"), then she gets distracted/bored. haha. i love snuggling up on the couch with my loves on these cold winter nights.

- daycare was closed all last week (jean was on vacation), so i had both kids home with me, which was...interesting ;) stay at home moms, mad props to you! we are definitely seeing more jealousy from azalea these days and i'm also starting to feel like i have a little teenager living with us (sassy pants!). i thought i had another 10 years or so before that would happen. thankfully we were able to escape the house a few mornings and go visit my aunt, uncle, and cousins. my aunt has saved a lot of her kids' old toys, so azalea has a ball over there. i also got a couple hours to myself one morning to get my hair cut while thatcher's parents watched azalea and ashford. that's the longest i've been away from my mama's boy and he did great.

- valentine's day was fun and kid-friendly this year. not that we normally do anything fancy. haha. we went to chipotle for dinner and they had plastic flowers in vases and fake candles on all the tables. pretty funny. a lot of other people had the same idea as us. we came home and devoured some chocolate cake that thatcher made and then settled in for our nightly olympics watching. i didn't take any pictures - oops!

- the other night we made homemade pizza, which we do quite often, but this time azalea made hers all by herself. she was pretty proud :)

Sounds like things have been great lately! Glad you survived your week home alone with both kids :-) We are going to get a membership to the zoo this summer but I figure that William will be much like Ashford ;-)

I love this! I totally plan on getting a membership to the zoo for Weston! It's a great deal! :) I always go with my girlfriend and her kids (she has a membership) and we actually like going the last hour, because it's empty! HAHA
