ashford is one month

here is a recap of ashford's first month, with some extra pictures and antidotes from week 4 thrown in:

highlights:

in your 4th week, you visited mama's work (where every one loved you), met emily, mollie, and the carlsons. mama got mastitis, and we all went to the graham's annual chili party. the big highlights of your first month were being born, coming home, your first christmas, meeting family and friends, and lots of nursing :)

stats:

you haven't been to the doctor in a few weeks, but i'm guessing you weigh somewhere in the 9-10 pound range. we go back to the doctor when you turn 2 months.

azalea loves to shove his pacifier in his mouth....whether he wants it or not. ha!

hair and eye color:

blonde hair, blue eyes

father of 2 summed up!

clothing:

you've grown out of most of your newborn jammies and onesies. it's sad to pack them away, but i'm happy you are a growing boy and look forward to putting you in some cute new, bigger stuff.

becky and ashford (jeromy and linnea were there too!)

sleep:

sleep has been great this week! you've been sleeping 3-4 hour stretches at night and going down pretty easily after your feedings. you amaze me with how long you stay awake in the morning. after waking up between 6 and 7 for the day, you usually don't fall back asleep until 10 or 11 am! you get very crabby by then and usually fall asleep after 5 minutes of nursing. you are still sleeping in the rock n play sleeper at night. you take naps in mama's arms or in the bouncy seat or your car seat (if we are out). i'm thinking about having you try to take some naps in your big crib soon. we've come a long way with sleep since your first days!

feeding:

nursing is still going well, as far as i can tell. although we had a little obstacle this week when mama came down with mastitis. i had it with azalea one time and it was not fun! you get flu-like symptoms (fever, chills) and needless to say, the infected breast is really painful. azalea was 9 days old when i got mastitis with her and she refused to nurse on that side. luckily you had no problem continuing to nurse, so that made things go more smoothly. i'm thankful for antibiotics that made me feel back to normal within a couple days. the biggest stress i have with feeding you right now is your cluster feeding in the evening. i know it's normal, so i'm not worried, but most evenings after dinner we spend the rest of the night on the couch nursing. you nurse, fall asleep for a few minutes, then scream to nurse again. over and over :) i know it's just a phase, so i'm trying to enjoy the quiet time and snuggles. your dad and i wish you would spend a little time with him, though.

most used gear:

still mostly the rock n play and the bouncy seat. we used the stroller for the first time this week.

likes:

being held, being nursed, looking at pictures on the wall and out the window.

dislikes:

getting diaper or clothes changed, being cold, having to wait 2 seconds to eat :)

He is just the cutest. I can't wait to see him again.

Ugh, mastitis...so sorry you had to go through that. PAINFUL!

We need to plan a lunch with Becky sometime. I want to meet her!

He's just so cute. I remember the cluster feeding- so normal, but yes, you do wish that they could go to daddy for awhile! Is Azalea doing better with him?

Aww he's such a cutie! Are you cloth diapering with him too? I just remembered that you did that with Azalea!

How is it possible that he is already a month old?! I had mastitis with Kenley and it was awful! I'm glad it cleared up quick!
