kaylee's wedding in kansas city

thatcher and i left minneapolis thursday morning. we dropped azalea off at my parents' where she stayed for one night, then they took her to thatchers parents' for the other 2 nights we were gone. we had a nice drive down to missouri, stopped for lunch in des moines at a thai place and walked around the city for a bit. we arrived in kansas city around 5:30 and decided to stop for some bbq at a place that kaylee recommended. it was delicious! after dinner, we headed to kaylee's parents' house, which is about 40 mins outside the city and where the wedding was being held. lots of her family and friends were there helping get things ready. the huge tent had been set up that day and they were busy stringing lights all over. we helped and then hung out in the house with everyone once the work was done. kaylee's aunt and uncle (who I had never met), were nice enough to let thatcher and I crash at their house for the night.

friday morning, kaylee's aunt made us delicious biscuits and gravy, which I never have at home! thatcher dropped me off at kaylee's parents' so she and i could run some wedding errands and he could go into the city to explore. at 1:30 we had manicure appointments. heidi, sarah (and heidi's husband chad) left early that morning from mn and met us at the nail place. we all got french manicures. after nails, we headed to the hotel to get ready for the rehearsal. heidi offered to curl my hair again, so i took her up on that. the rehearsal was held at kaylee's parents'. we ran through the ceremony a couple times and then headed to an italian restaurant for dinner. lots of food and fun! after the dinner ended, we called it a night and headed back to the hotel to get a good night's sleep.
saturday was the big day! we got up and made a pit stop for bagels before heading to kaylees' parents'. two ladies were there at 9:00 to do our hair. i got a low updo and we all added flowers. it looked super cute!
after hair and make up, we ate lunch that was brought over by kaylees' aunt. after lunch was more getting ready until the photographer arrived at 3:00. she did some pictures of kaylee getting into her dress and finishing getting ready. she looked sooo beautiful! The next few hours consisted of professional photos. i didn't get many on my camera, but i'm excited to see the professional ones.
the ceremony was not until 8:00 in the evening and the setting could not have been more beautiful. kaylee and preston exchanged vows under a huge tree with twinkly lights and candles in mason jars hung from the trees. we were a little worried about rain, but it ended up being perfect weather.
after a short and sweet ceremony, we headed a couple hundred feet over to the tent for the reception. it looked like it was straight out of a movie. my pictures do not do it justice. simply beautiful, romantic, lovely.
they served drinks and hors devours and cake. there was a super cute slide show of the kaylee and preston and a couple touching speeches that made me cry. :) we hit the dance floor and before we knew it, it was after midnight. thatcher and i left around 12:30 because we were pooped, but the party was still going strong!
sunday was our drive back...and also our 6th wedding anniversary! what's more romantic than being in a car together for 7-8 hours? haha! i had the best weekend celebrating with my college roomies. i love those girls so much and i am so happy for kaylee and preston beginning their life together. i can't believe it's already been 6 years since thatcher's and my big day. where does the time go?
