san diego part dos

whoops! accidentally posted both this morning. Oh well! Part 1 is below.

saturday morning thatcher had plans to meet up with a fellow urban nerd he met via twitter (i made fun of him, but i'm also the girl who meets up with fellow bloggers) :) since thatcher's aunt and uncle had to work while we were there, azalea and i were on our own. i took her out in the stroller down to the main street in encinitas where we stopped for some coffee (well, i did!) and walked through the beautiful neighborhoods until we reached the beach we went to on thursday. azalea spent some time at the playground and then we went down by the water to watch the waves.

the playground and beach were packed with mostly locals and i couldn't help but be envious of this beautiful place they have right in their backyard. i had a great time just hanging out with my girl, it's so fun to see the world through her eyes. we came back to the house for lunch and a nap. this was the first official nap she took on the trip! woo hoo! i joined her for part of it. :) after she woke, we headed out in the car with thatcher so he could show us some of the neighborhoods he explored in san diego that morning.

of course we found ourselves at another playground (3rd one of the trip for any one keeping track). :) we spent the evening at his aunt and uncle's, eating pizza and hanging out with them.

sunday was our last day. we took a walk to the library down the street to return some books we had borrowed for azalea and then went to the park across the street.

it's an unofficial dog park on the weekends, so we had fun watching all the cute dogs run around and chase each other.

in the late morning, thatcher's aunt and uncle hosted a brunch for us, all of their kids (+significant others), and thatcher's aunt who lives on coronado.

it was the most delicious brunch ever. his aunt and uncle have countless fruit trees (orange, lemon, avocado, and more) in their yard, so we pretty much binged on fresh produce the whole time we were there. add that one to my jealousy list! we also had waffles and eggs.

we were all stuffed afterwards. azalea wandered upstairs and fell asleep on one of the beds (yes!). i joined her again because what is better than taking a nap after a large meal on vacation? nothing! we spent a couple hours after just visiting with everyone at the house. it was nice. soon it was time to pack up the car and head to the airport :( we returned our rental car, checked in, and got the security incredibly fast. we were left with a lot of time on our hands before they would start boarding the plane. so we basically followed azalea all over the airport until it was time to leave. i was ready for a nap! we had an evening flight and we hoped that would mean azalea would drift off to sleep on the plane. ha, yeah right! it was a completely full flight, so we didn't have the luxury of a row to ourselves either. she did pretty well 95% of the flight, but there were a few strong freak outs that left me red in the face because people around us were staring. yikes! we arrived in minneapolis at 11:45 pm (really 9:45 pm pacific time), but i couldn't believe azalea was still awake! she crashed hard as soon as we got home.

we were so fortunate to have the opportunity to travel to san diego and especially to have wonderful family to host us for the weekend!
