what's in a name? (blog edition)

one of my blog buddies, syndal is hosted a link up on friday where people share how their blog got its name. i thought it would be a fun one to join, so here we go! as you know, my blog is named "i carry your heart." most people know it from the title of the e.e. cummings poem. i am not a poetry person...i should say, i don't know much about poetry, but i've loved this poem for years. confession: the first time i heard it was during one of my favorite movies, "in her shoes." sorta embarrassing, but it is what it is.

i knew i wanted to incorporate this poem into my wedding some how, so i asked my college roomate if she would read it during our ceremony. here is the poem in it's entirety:

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear;and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
                                                      i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

when i created this blog back in 2010, "i carry your heart" came to me right away. i liked that it had sentimental meaning since it was a part of my wedding, but it was also at the time that we were thinking about having a baby and i thought it would be such a perfect title for a blog that would chronicle my pregnancy. so, there you have it!

I love this and love the meaning behind it! I have never actually heard this poem before and have never seen 'In Her Shoes' either.
