she is so funny

while i have been doing monthly posts for azalea, they don't have a whole lot of detail, so i wanted to write a post about all the funny things she has been doing lately. she is really learning about the world around her and starting to talk and imitate the things we do. here are just a few examples:

- she only says a handful of words, but one of them is sock. any time she sees a sock (or a shoe!) she picks it up and says "sock..sock" while trying to put it on her foot. she's even done this with a wash cloth before, thinking it was a sock. other words she says: mama, dada, buh bye, night night, up, uh oh, bumpa (grandpa - sometimes),

- she loooooves saying "buh bye" and waving. but she has started doing it when we arrive somewhere too. (i guess we need to work on "hi" more). every time we pull up in front of the house in the car, she says "buh bye buh bye". maybe she is saying good bye to the car? :)

- her word for food, eating, etc. is "my-nums" or sometimes "my-nana". she usually pairs this with the funniest "mmmMMM" sound, while scurrying over to her high chair.

- she is obsessed with all kinds of technology right now and gets mad if we are using a phone, ipad, etc. and she can't have it. i was talking to my mom on the phone recently and she threw a fit because she wanted to hold it (and i didn't even take it away from her to answer). we thought we were so smart giving her one of thatcher's old flip phones to play with, but she thinks it's super lame because it doesn't light up. she hands it to us over and over with this look on her face, like "turn this thing on already!"

- she loves to imitate things that we do. she picks up a (closed) bottle of sunscreen and starts rubbing her hands over her forearms, and finds a wash cloth and starts cleaning the table or floor, etc.

- her bedtime routine lasts about 30 seconds these days. after we get her into her jammies, etc. we sit in the rocker and give her a sippy cup of water. she takes 1 or 2 sips, then turns around and gives you a hug and then tries to climb down saying "night night". we put her in her crib and she is happy as a clam to go to bed.

- i have to add that it's not all rainbows and unicorns over here. she is perfectly her tantrum skills as well. she wants to eat anytime she sees her high chair (even if it's 10 minutes after a meal) and throws a huge fit when we tell her no. also, she has no patience when i am heating up her food, even if it's for 20 seconds in the microwave. she wants those nums and she wants them now! oof :)

here dad, let me help you with that...

Thatcher has absolutely NO patience either. He shrieks in his high chair as I cut grapes. Awesome.

I like the way Azalea picks up a tube of sunscreen and pretends to rub lotion on her arms. You might want to keep any nail polish out of reach!

Azalea sounds like such a doll! My husband's family call grandpa bumpa, too! I'd never heard that before and figured they were one of a kind, lol.

I've learned that technology is very addicting for little ones. Our niece (just turned 3 in April) told us she wanted a pink and purple iPad for her birthday. Poor thing didn't get either ;)

It's so fun to watch the things they pick up on isn't it? Well minus the tantrums. Those are still a struggle over at our place...

Aww! This was so fun to read! I love her bedtime routine. Seriously...lol. Ours is quite different! haha:) And all of her words and phrases for things- it is all so sweet! The whole thing about not being able to talk on the phone rings a bell! Rosemary does that same "gimme gimme" thing. :)
