a trip to grandma and grandpa's

now that you've heard more than you wanted to know about our trip to vancouver, i have to share a little bit about azalea's time at her grandma and grandpa's (thatcher's parents). she had a great time with them, including sleeping in everyday. (which i must add, has not continued now that she's back at home. ha!) 

the following were emails and pictures sent by my father in law:

sunday:

Azalea went to bed a little after 8 p.m. last night and got up around 
8:05 a.m. Cheryl brought Azalea into our bed, where she got to watch Maggie doing her 
morning lie-on-the-bed-and-kick-her-feet-in-the-air-while-making-growling-noises 
routine. She seems perky and cheerful, though the fact that she slept until 8 a.m. obviously means she's recovering from whatever ailed her. Azalea had a nap this morning, and we took her on a walk to the lake with Maggie a while ago. She just finished lunch. She seemed unhappy when the food stopped coming, but Cheryl figured it was time to stop. Azalea has been interested in Maggie, and she has a new talent: rapper-style gang signs (or at least that's what the gestures look like). Anders and Heather probably will come over later this afternoon to see Azalea (ideally, when she isn't napping).

monday: 

Azalea had a bath last night, then had her first bottle with whole milk since she arrived at our house. She went to bed at eight-something, protested for a few minutes, then slept through until 7:45 a.m., when we heard her coughing and brought her into bed so she could watch Maggie do her morning kicking-and-growling routine. Azalea just had a bottle and 

is now having breakfast. Cedar and Jack will be coming over after lunch and spending the night, so Azalea will have plenty of people to keep her entertained. Azalea had a good morning and a big lunch, and if she'd had her way, she would have had Cheryl's lunch, too.

Cedar and Jack got here a little while ago, and Azalea was thrilled to see Jack.

tuesday:

Azalea went to bed around 7:45 last night (after her pre-dinner and 
dinner meals). At 7 this morning, we heard her doing an intermittent coughing routine. 
She let out a cry at 7:21, when I went to get her and brought her into our bedroom so that she could watch Maggie's morning kick routine. She's finishing her bottle right now (it's taking a while, since she keeps talking to Jack) and will soon have breakfast. No separation anxiety so far, although she did seem to be saying "Mama" and "Dada" after we got her up this morning.

wednesday:

Azalea slept from about 7:45 last night until 8:20 this morning, when Cheryl brought her into our bed so she could watch Maggie do her morning kick routine. (Maggie must be getting pretty comfortable with Azalea--she spent most of the night in Azalea's bedroom, and this 
morning she was on her back and kicking with her head about six inches away from Azalea, who was sitting up to watch.)
