8 months
time for another monthly update...the 8th one already! azalea, can't you just stay my little baby forever. please? i'm so excited for you to grow up and experience everything in life, but everyday i see your babyhood slipping away as you become more independent (and opinionated). :) your dad and i just can't get enough of you. here is what you are up to these days:
- you haven't been to the doctor for a well baby check up in 2 months, so i'm really not sure how much you weigh. basing it on past growth, probably around 17 lbs.
- we've upped your bottle to 7 ounces in the last month. i've also gone down to pumping 4 times a day (from 5). we try to get you to hold your own bottle, but you don't have any interest. you squirm all over the place when we try to feed you. crazy crazy girl!
- you are continuing to eat more varieties of solids (2-3 times a day), mostly purees still, but we've given you a few tiny soft things to gum. you don't really get the concept of feeding yourself yet, but we're trying to encourage you. you are a pretty good eater for the most part. there are only a couple things that you have refused to eat. we will probably start introducing a sippie cup soon!
- your third and fourth teeth are starting to come in on top. not your front teeth, but your canines, i think. it's been making you a little cranky lately.
- your favorite activities are taking off your socks, rolling around on the floor, slapping the floor, playing in your johnny jump up, taking baths, going outside, crinkling paper, etc.
- around 7.5 months you finally started sitting on your own. you will sit and play with your toys for a few minutes now. it's pretty cute! you've gotten up on your hands and knees a couple times, but no crawling yet.
- you are starting to have some separation anxiety. you don't like when we leave the room, but you are all smiles when we come back.
- sleep has been interesting lately. not bedtime, or sleeping through the night. those are both still going strong. i'm talking about napping. nap strikes to be exact. even though we've darkened your room, you still fight us on taking naps almost every time. jean says you never put up a fuss at her house. what are we going to do with you, little girl?
- jean also tells us you are a perfect angel all day at her house. you are a good girl for us most of the time, but you know how to manipulate us already. apparently you do that because you are most comfortable with us and know you can just let out all of your emotions. you take every ounce of my patience sometimes :)
- you are getting really into books these days. you definitely have your favorites (and ones that you hate when i start to read - haha). the books with flaps or photos are your favorite. you grunt because you always want to me open the flaps right away. ha!
- we just moved you up to size 3 diapers at night. you're still wearing cloth during the day. changing your diaper/clothes is like wresting an alligator. you try to flip over and put up a huge fight!
- you are wearing mostly 9 month clothes, but a few 6 month things still fit. you are almost growing our of your 9 month pajamas, though, so we'll be moving into 12 month ones in no time! you have some long legs! now that it's cold out, we've been putting you in your snowsuit a lot. you absolutely hate getting it put on you. i told you to get used to it, because you'll be wearing it for the next 6 months.
- you are becoming more and more interactive every day. one of my favorite things to do is giggle with you. we just feed off each other and before we know it, we're both cracking up over nothing. you also start laughing if anyone in the room is, no matter what it's about. it's the best!
- it's the official start of the christmas season now and we can't wait to spend it with you!
