28 weeks

hello third trimester! nice to see you. i hope you treat me as well as the last two trimesters did :) time is going by fast, but we've been making good progress on baby-related projects this week. with the help of my dad and brother, we moved our bedroom downstairs next to the nursery (and moved our guest room/office upstairs). don't worry, i didn't do any of the lifting. just made the beds and organized. can i tell you how much i am loving being right next the bathroom at night? :) it's so great that i almost don't mind having to get up from my warm bed to pee at 3am. almost. we're going to need to figure out some logistics (like how the heck to fit a pack n play in that tiny room). other accomplishments this week include ordering the crib, which i am anxiously awaiting (should come next week). the crib bedding came on thursday and i love it! i also did our target registry, which is pretty skimpy compared to the babies r us one, but i wanted people to have a target option if there isn't a babies r us near them. today kelli and i added some more stuff to the registries and also bought a crib mattress. most exciting...thatcher put together the dresser/changing table we bought at ikea last weekend:

what do you think?

at 28 weeks, baby girl is up to 14.8 inches long and weighs 2.25 pounds. it's getting more fun to watch my belly every day. especially when i lay down at night. she gets all sorts of crazy in there! i'm definitely starting to get a lot more uncomfortable, especially sleeping. she tends to push on my bladder and take up a lot of room, which makes me feel like it's harder to breathe. my legs also ache and fall asleep in the night, which is not fun.
but she's worth it :)

this week, i had my annual review with my boss karen and it's official that i will be taking 12 weeks of maternity leave and working 4 days a week (32 hours) permanently when i go back. i feel so lucky that my company is flexible and family friendly. we are starting to look at a couple home daycares for when i got back to work at the end of june. i'll probably do a post on that at some point.

here is the 28 week belly in all it's glory:

yep, we rearranged the living room ;)

On the Pack n Play space issue: you may find that you don't need it in there, anyway, especially if there's no or little room for it. Your rooms are so close together that you'll be able to hear her, and it won't be that much more difficult to just go into her room to get her (plus, that way only one of you will wake up at a time, at least in theory!). It all depends on personal style and preferences and philosophies, but I did the bulk of night nursings on the couch, in part because I was afraid I'd fall asleep with Jack in bed (which I didn't want to do when he was very young), and the couch and living room ended up being more comfortable than the rocker in his bedroom.
Thanks! Yeah, we'll have to see if we can fit it. Thatcher was asking how long baby is going to be in a our room. I told him I wouldn't be surprised if he was the one wanting her to stay in there when the time comes :)

What a great feeling to know you are now in your third trimester hun! Hope it treats you well. Love the changing table/dresser combo. I cannot wait to see pics of your nursery. What colors are you going with?
