this week at home: memorial weekend, car damage, almost moving day

11 weeks of the stay at home order! originally they estimated that it would come to an end on may 31st, but washington is being extremely cautious about re-opening and while cases are declining, we haven't hit the case rate milestone yet for moving into phase 2, so i guess we will have to wait a little longer.

we had a quiet memorial day weekend. we didn't go anywhere outside our neighborhood. i got takeout on friday night from a restaurant incubator at the end of our street called addo. i ordered puerto rican pulled pork with rice and beans. it was so delicious!

we've been giggling about ashford's hair, which has reached mullet status lately. he hasn't had a hair cut since february.

then my mom sent me this picture of my brother with a mullet at the exact same age, so now my life is complete :)

we did a lot of organizing and packing over the weekend. we are making good progress for our move on the 2nd! we also took some time to relax. i walked to venture coffee and started a new book.

on memorial day, we were all invited to a "social distanced" birthday party for azalea's friend simone. it was held in their yard and had a llamas/let's make a deal theme. they had families sign up for a 30 minute slot to attend. they had treats and made all these awesome games to play with their guests. it was raining, which wasn't ideal, but they set up a tent over the sidewalk. it was a lot of fun. i love how these times are making people come up with creative ways to celebrate :)

the kids asked if they could play solitaire with real cards this week. they've only played it on a screen. i had to look up how exactly to set it up, but they had fun once they got going.

on wednesday morning around 10:30, i heard a loud crash outside and looked out the window to see that a car had crashed into a parked car across the street. a parking enforcement officer happened to be nearby and some witnesses came over to see what happened. they detained the driver in her car as it was pretty clear that she was under the influence and not injured. i saw that another car on that side of the street got hit as well. what i didn't realize was that our car (as well as the one behind it) on the opposite side of the street were also struck! the police came and arrested the woman. our poor bumper :(

i'm really thankful that the kids were safe inside when this happened. her car could have easily ended up on the sidewalk. our car is at the collision shop and we're working with the insurance companies. hopefully we won't have to pay too much out of pocket! we are also getting a rental car today so we can start moving some small stuff over to the new place on monday.
