this week at home: baking, outside play, lots of zoom

another week down! it feels a bit daunting that the "stay at home" order could go on for months (as of now until may 4th), but we are taking things one day at a time. what else can you do? thankfully we are healthy, employed, and well-fed, so no major complaints from me besides feeling a bit stir crazy :)

over the weekend, azalea asked if she could bake something "by herself". she's baked with us before plenty of times, but she's been hearing that some of her friends bake their own stuff, so she wanted to try. we thought a package of cornbread mix was a good place to start. she got out the ingredients, pre-heated the oven, measured everything, mixed it, scooped the batter into muffin tins, put them in and took them out of the oven. we helped a little but, but she mostly did it herself and she was very proud. and the cornbread muffins turned out great :)

we started this puzzle in oregon and then brought it home in chunks and thatcher and the kids finished it off last weekend. 1500 pieces!

lots of zooming happened here this week. both kids talked to their classmates, we talked to some other friends too and family in minnesota and new jersey, and i had a zoom happy hour with friends one night after the kids went to bed. it's not the same as seeing people in person, but it does help.

we try to get outside every day. some days have been nicer than others. but it's been dry for the most part! we did chalk designs, scootering, soccer. i love opening our front door and sitting right on the stoop with my book.

one afternoon it hailed 3 separate times!

on the school front, we've continued with our workbooks, work sheets, online learning games. the kids asked if we could do an experiment, so we looked up how to make a paper boat and added 25 pennies to see if it would sink or float. it floated!

we got our first ever grocery delivery this week. most people our age do grocery delivery all the time, but we are old school and like to go to the store. but we are trying to limit our trips these days, so it was a nice convenience.
