hello from the other side

it's been a busy week of moving, unpacking, and no internet at the new place, so hence the lack of blog posts. but i'm here now! we've been in our new house since sunday, but it feels like a lot longer. not because it feels like home already, but because we've been so busy that it feels like more time has gone by.

to be honest, i've struggled with this move more than i thought i would. i'm excited about many aspects of the new house - more space, a yard, etc. but i'm also mourning the loss of the apartment that was our home for the last 4 years. i loved our apartment so much. and especially the location. we are only 4 blocks away from where we were, but it feels like a much longer walk to get to school, the grocery store, etc which is a bummer. i think the hardest part is that it wasn't our choice to move, but i'm trying to make the best of the situation. i'm sure the new place will feel more like home as time goes on.

back to the move! we spent last saturday packing and moving some awkward items over to the new house (like plants, food, etc).

sunday morning the movers came bright and early. they got everything packed up, driven over, and unloaded in under 3 hours, which was awesome. and worth every penny! sunday afternoon thatcher and azalea had a date to the seattle symphony to see a special harry potter show. ashford and i stayed home and unpacked. it think it took me 3 hours to get the kitchen set up. whew!

the kids both had camps this week, which was great timing. azalea was at her school for "spart" camp from 9:30-3 every day. it's a mix of sports, art, and science. ashford was at preschool camp at the community center from 9-12:30 every day. i spent my 3 precious solo hours each morning working (from the old apartment's kitchen counter because like i mentioned, no internet at the new place yet. but it's getting hooked up today!). and of course more unpacking and setting up at the new place. we're in really good shape for only being there for 5 days. I really like to get stuff put away including the boxes asap to start to feel settled faster.

the living room looks the most settled. i love all the light!

in addition to our backyard, we have this nice covered side porch where i've already spent a good amount of time reading.

i've never had a walk in closet before, so this is amazing!

more pictures to come as we get more rooms set up.

Good work!! Moving is stressful, but I think getting the living room all situated is a great way to feel more settled.

Look at you go! You'll be completely settled in no time. Loving all the light as well. And I've never had a walk in closet. The day that happens I'll be doing happy dances everyday.
