heca play lab, family dance, super bowl

hello february! so nice to see you. the lamest/longest month of the year is now over, hurray! haha. now onto the weekend recap...

friday night we stayed in, per usual. for some reason friday felt like such a long, downer of a day. nothing bad happened, it just felt like it should be bedtime by 4:30pm.

saturday morning thatcher had plans with a co-worker, so i took the kids to a new play place in ballard that i've been hearing about on facebook. it's called heca play lab. it's basically a place with various toys, dress up clothes and a small climbing structure with a slide. the kids had fun there since it was new to them, but it was probably better suited for kids 3 and under. it's also pretty expensive for what it is. i was happy to try it, but i don't really see us going back there. here is a cute picture of the kids dressed up as super heroes:

we quickly popped over to a church a couple blocks away where our friends from the inc (coworking space) were exhibiting at a preschool fair. thankfully they had toys there too, so i was able to chat with the other board members who were there. hopefully it will bring some new members to the space! thatcher hung out with the kids in the afternoon while i went to java bean to have a peaceful hour of reading my book and drinking a cafe vienna latte. it was heaven! we made pulled pork for dinner and then headed to the community center for the rest of the evening for azalea's school's "family dance". the kids had a blast running around with balloons in the gym. there was a DIY face painting table, so azalea's classmates painted each other's faces. it was pretty cute. i was really impressed by this kitty her friend drew:

the kids practically fell into bed once we got them home. thank you, dance!

sunday morning we went to ikea. we haven't been there since the week we moved to seattle and they've actually rebuilt the store since then, so i was excited to go. especially when i realized both kids could go to the childcare area while we shopped. woo hoo! it was busy there (no surprise), but thatcher and i had a nice hour browsing the store together. we made a few small purchases, but nothing very exciting. the kids had a great time playing, so it was a win-win! in the afternoon, azalea and i returned a couple library books, then walked through the farmer's market before going to the grocery store. it was the most gloriously sunny afternoon and 55 degrees. it's been sooooo rainy here for the past month, and while i will take that over freezing temps and snow, it was really nice to feel the warmth of the sun.

since we are on the west coast, the superbowl started at 3pm! we mostly watched because it was held in minnesota (though i do enjoy the commercials a lot and the football somewhat) ;) the kids were trying to understand the whole thing and had lots of questions because they haven't watched much football in their lives. they enjoyed the half time show, especially when justin timberlake sang "can't stop the feeling" :) we made asian meatballs for dinner, gave them showers, and sent them off to bed.

hope you had a good weekend too!
