saturday morning we decided to take the light rail downtown and go to the mill city farmer's market. it's my favorite farmer's market in the twin cities and we hadn't been there at all this summer! we actually parked by the prospect park light rail station in st. paul, so we could ride the new green line into downtown. the kiddos thought the train was the greatest thing ever. thatcher and i both have fond memories of our parents taking us downtown as kids, so we definitely want to keep up the tradition!
we actually didn't end up spending much time at the market, because it was so packed, and almost impossible to navigate with the stroller. we bought some tomatoes and made our way over to the guthrie to go out on the observation deck.
next we headed over to the stone arch bridge to see the waterfall, and the barge coming through the lock and dam.
a nice man offered to take our picture and we took him up on it, but after 2 failed attempts to get the kids to look, we thought we better let him go on his way. ha!
our final stop was a trip to izzy's ice cream for a little pre-lunch treat. we got there at 11am right when it opened, devoured our ice cream and went on our way. if you haven't been to izzy's before, run, don't walk! it's amazing.
it was a fun little family date and we did all that stuff before 11:30am. whew! :)
