baby #2: finding out (adjusted time is 7 weeks)

thank you all so much for all the comment love on yesterday's post! i've been so excited to share the news on here and all the posts i've been drafting for the last 8 weeks. haha. i did a pretty thorough job documenting my pregnancy with azalea and i'm so happy i did. i'm going to try my hardest to do the same with this baby. and i think i've been doing pretty well so far. so, let's get started...

this post was originally written on may 15, 2013

today i found out we are going to become a family of four this winter and i am so excited! finding out was very different this time. when i found out i was pregnant with azalea, i was shocked (well, maybe not shocked - but i didn't feel any different). that was definitely not the case this time. for the last few days my stomach has been bloated (almost like i grew a bump the second my body knew i was pregnant. not kidding!), i've also been waking up with a ridiculously full bladder every morning, my face/chest is broken out (which happened all through my last pregnancy), and the strangest one that took me a while to put 2 and 2 together - I've been getting the spins any time I lay down or roll over in bed. needless to say, thatcher and i just had a feeling this time, before i even took the test.

i woke up at 5:15 am and immediately remembered i was planning to take a test this morning. I laid there for 15 mins before i couldn't wait any longer. i took the test and happened to glance at it as I was setting it on the counter and it was already showing a positive! whoa! that was fast!

i crawled back in bed with thatcher and told him the good news. he knew I was taking the test, so it wasn't a big surprise  but he was happy! this is the second time i've told him in a non-creative way, but in the moment i can't help but just tell him! he hugged and kissed me and fell back asleep two seconds later. (typical). :)

of course i couldn't go back to sleep! I got up, immediately started writing this post and found a due date calculator online. january 19th, it said. wow, earlier than I expected! i have always said i would never have a baby in the dead of winter in minnesota, but never say never, i guess :) i will get my real due date when I go to the doctor in a few weeks. azalea and her sibling will be 2 years, 9 months apart (probably 3 grades apart in school?). my brother and i are just under 2 years apart and thatcher and his siblings are all 4 years apart, so this is sort of uncharted territory for our families.

when i found out i was pregnant with azalea, it was two days before i was going to be a bridesmaid in my good friend dani's wedding. i kept my pregnancy a secret that weekend and it really stressed me out. this time i have a bachelorette party in a week and a half and the wedding (that I'm in) in 3.5 weeks and I've decided I'm going to tell the bride and my friends who are in the wedding, so I don't have to worry about hiding it both weekends and i can just relax.

i can't believe i'm at the beginning of this journey again, i can't wait!

Awww! I love how you didn't plan any special way of telling Thatcher and you just went back to bed afterwards. Living in the moment :)

I'm so glad Andrea "introduced" us! I had a few girls that I was pregnant with last time and it was so much fun to be on the same timeframe. Congrats on your pregnancy! I am so excited to follow along!
Seriously so exciting! It's funny that with both Azalea & the new babe you were in a wedding in just a few weeks. It's fun looking at the first few pictures of your baby bump with Azalea too!
