takeaction mn award dinner, santa (i know him!!), christmas market
this weekend was jam-packed! i know some of you joke that i'm always busy, but you have to keep in mind our days usually start around 6am (thanks azalea!)...so by 8:30 or so we are all ready to get out of the house. on the other hand, azalea naps every afternoon, so that gives us 2-3 hours of downtime at home. we usually have a couple things on the calendar, and then a couple more things come up during the weekend. maybe we are bad at saying no? haha.
friday i worked from home until 2:30 and then did a little christmas shopping (it takes me soooo many trips. i'm so indecisive about gifts!). i picked up azalea from daycare and took her to thatcher's parents' for the evening. thatcher and i attended the takeaction mn annual awards dinner. takeaction is a client of the company i work for and our ceo always buys a table for whoever wants to go. it was at the downtown hilton (which was decorated so beautifully for christmas!). it's always a lot of fun to party with all the progressive types in the twin cities and hang out with my co-workers (and their significant others) outside the office.
saturday we took azalea to see santa! last year we went to the mall by our house and it was crazy! super crowded and over-priced. my sister in law told me that a greenhouse by us has a santa, they will take your picture for free and last year it wasn't very busy. sold! i fully expected a meltdown from azalea when we put her on santa's lap. she didn't end up crying, but she had this look of terror as she tried to wiggle herself off of him. haha! so we did the next best thing...thatcher and i got in the picture too. i got to sit on santa's lap. luckily he was a sweet santa and not one of those creepy ones. haha. so it ended well! and we got to see thatcher's sister and our nephew and a bunch of their in-laws.
while azalea napped in the afternoon, i went to ingebretsons with my old boss/friend karen. it's this awesome scandanavian gift shop/deli in minneapolis. i hadn't been there in a few years. i picked up these cool double ended forks/spoons for azalea, a pack of candles and some lefse (yum!). after azalea was up, we headed to a first-time christmas market in richfield. it was really fun! they had bonfires with smores and hot chocolate, some vendors, and cool ice lanterns! our friends becky, jeromy, and linnea met us there. we also saw a few other people we know.
saturday night we had our first holiday party of the season at our old neighbor's new house. it's a huge, gorgeous house in edina. it was nice to catch up with them (and our current neighbors who came) and see their house all decorated for christmas. i didn't take any pics, though. oops! my best friend kelli came over to watch azalea for the night, which was so nice!
sunday i met up with my friends anna and michelle for coffee in the morning. then thatcher, azalea, and i went to my parents' house for lunch. our family friends from oregon are in town, so it was nice to see them. i got some stuff done in the afternoon while azalea napped. we ended the night with tacos, a movie, and a little lighting ceremony!
umm the lights were a little long :)
